You Could Spend 14 Years In Prison For Doing This In Idaho

I don’t know anyone who would willingly sign up for a trip to the Ada County Jail, but did you know there’s an unlikely offense that—if committed in Idaho—could get you up to 14 years in the slammer?Speeding? That’s not it.Jaywalking? Nope.Vandalism? Nah.It’s cannibalism.Eating another individual of the same species as food.Trust me, I know firsthand the frustration when Albertsons or Winco is out of your favorite gluten-free pasta or when the drive-through gives you the wrong order or puts ketchup & mustard on the burger you specifically asked them not to…BUT EATING AN ACTUAL, REAL LIVE HUMAN? 😬

Speeding? That’s not it.

Jaywalking? Nope.

Vandalism? Nah.

It’s cannibalism.

Eating another individual of the same species as food.

Trust me, I know firsthand the frustration when Albertsons or Winco is out of your favorite gluten-free pasta or when the drive-through gives you the wrong order or puts ketchup & mustard on the burger you specifically asked them not to…BUT EATING AN ACTUAL, REAL LIVE HUMAN? 😬

Idaho’s State Legislature signed this into law in 1990 & were quite clear that people eating people within our state lines is a big no-no.

18-5003. CANNIBALISM DEFINED — PUNISHMENT. (1) Any person who wilfully ingests the flesh or blood of a human being is guilty of cannibalism.

(2) It shall be an affirmative defense to a violation of the provisions of this section that the action was taken under extreme life-threatening conditions as the only apparent means of survival.

(3) Cannibalism is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not exceeding fourteen (14) years.

So, uh…unless you’re under “extreme, life-threatening conditions”…maybe stick with a cheeseburger?
