The Origin of Halloween Isn't What You Might Think

The mention of Halloween may immediately conjure images of haunted houses and cemeteries but it’s origins are a lot less macabre than you might think!

For as long as I can remember, Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. There’s just something about the days leading up to it that has always captured my imagination. The leaves turning and coating the ground in red, orange, brown and yellow hues. The crisp air and the pumpkins dotting the landscape make my eyes widen with excitement. When I was younger, I equated Halloween to the movie of the same title. A night where it would be possible for an evil creature or shape to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting neighborhood.

Pretty dark for an 8 year old, I know. So imagine my surprise when I learned that Halloween isn’t’ actually dark or evil at all.
