Keep Your Poinsettias Happy!

Poinsettias have been a Christmas staple in the U.S. for nearly 200 years, and some 35 million of the potted plants are sold each year. Erin Marino of ‘The Sill’ has some tips to keep them happy, saying, “Poinsettias prefer medium to bright indirect light. Keep them on a window sill to give them the most amount of daylight possible, especially during the winter when the sun sets earlier.” She adds that you should keep poinsettias away from hot and cold drafts, as they prefer temperatures about 65 to 75 degrees. They also like their soil to be moist to the touch, with Marino recommending watering them about once a week.
