Almost 100,000 Pounds Of Food Donated To 7 Cares Idaho Shares

Every year I’m in awe of how many great people we have here in the state of Idaho. Thousands and thousands of people grabbed family, co-workers, friends, and anyone who’d help to bring in more than 93,000 pounds of food for our fellow Idahoans needing a Hand Up.

KTVB’s 7 Cares Idaho Shares is a crucial part of keeping things in check when it comes to families in need, people down on their luck, women and children going through abuse, and so many others who for some reason are in a very bad place right now.

Now’s not the time for anyone to be in a bad place. We’ve all been working so hard to get through this pandemic together. Businesses are opening back up, money is being spent, and it’s Christmas time!

For some, this is the WORST time of year. And making things just a bit better with a meal, some clothes, a place to stay, and so many other necessities is what 7 Cares Idaho Shares is all about. So how did it go? What’s the end result?

KTVB reports that between the Treasure Valley and the Magic Valley 93,297 pounds of food was donated. That food will provide 77,748 meals for those in need. Wow! Absolutely incredible. And crawling out of the cracks of Idaho to show our faces again was something special. Remember last year this along with so many other events were all virtual. This year was both. That way anyone interested in helping out had every opportunity to do so and OBVIOUSLY you guys did it.

I don’t have a dollar amount for you yet but it was announced recently that every dollar raised was going to be matched by an anonymous donor. Trust me, that’s huge because while I was out there Saturday morning with KTVB I watched check after check roll in. $10,000, $15,000, $30,000 checks. I saw one check someone inside Fred Meyer handed Maggie O’Mara that was $50,000. That was donated on behalf of the Melvin Huter Charitable Trust.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Idaho. You, truly are something special.
