It had been three years since the breakup of the most successful and most inspirational band that had ever hit the radio airwaves and in those years, there was a concern that Ringo would have a difficult time with the transition to solo artist.

John, Paul and George began stretching out their talents into solo careers and other projects while Ringo delved into acting, but still kept involved with music by collaborating with his bandmates on records. He teamed up with George in 1971 on this song while he was on a trip to the south of France for the Cannes Film Festival after attending Mick Jagger’s wedding. At the time, Ringo was staying on a private luxury yacht when inspiration struck. It was Ringo’s signature song that became an international number one hit.
