After the crazy snowstorm we just had in the Treasure Valley, how bad does Idaho have it when it comes to winter driving?

I grew up in north Idaho where snow covered roads is a pretty regular winter occurrence, but the one difference between north Idaho and the Treasure Valley? Snow plows. For the most part, when the Valley gets hit hard with snow, it can take awhile to get the roads cleared because we normally don’t get a ton of snow and we don’t have a ton of snow plows for that reason. That makes snowy driving quite the adventure.

well it turns out that Idaho is the fourth most dangerous state for driving in snow, according to SafeWise. The report said data shows there were 11 different car accidents resulting in a fatality due to snow on the roads, which ranked 4th in the nation. Now, this shouldn’t cause any fright because the odds of an Idahoan being in a fatal crash due to snow is still a 0.66 percent chance per 100,000 people. So yes, it’s still not very likely.

Anytime we get hit with a big snow storm, it is a great reminder to take it slow, give yourself plenty of space and time, and have patience on the road. When we all do those things, it makes it A LOT easier.
