IDAHO’S MINI SNOWMAGEDDON | MORE SNOW COMING

I can’t believe it was four years ago when the Boise area got completely dumped on. And then dumped on again. And then again and again and again. Words like Snowpocalypse or Snowmageddon were being thrown out. We received almost 40 inches of snow down in the valley which is a lot.

Cars were buried. Schools were canceled. People couldn’t get into work. And grocery store shelves were empty. It felt like some kind of weird, end of the world, movie type of thing becoming a reality but… Snowmageddon came and went. We survived and we’ve had some pretty mild Winter conditions here in Boise ever since. This year’s been about as mild as it comes and then BOOM! It hits. We’ve had close to 12 inches of snow in the past three days and it’s NOT over.

I was one of the drivers white knuckling all the way into work on Friday and Saturday praying somebody didn’t hit that patch of ice or snow sending them straight into my vehicle. Plows couldn’t keep up, there were no lanes on our streets. Everything was covered in thick, icy snow and if you hopped on to I-84 at all you saw a lot of slide-offs and accidents.

So is THIS a mini Snowmageddon? Who knows. There’s no real definition. Truthfully, we just got hit hard and for a week or so it’s actually going to feel and look like Winter around the Treasure Valley. Yes, you have to get out and shovel the driveway over and over and yes, it takes you twice as long to get into work but we’re due right? We’ve had it really good around here. Dress warm, drive carefully, and don’t leave the house if you don’t have to. This WILL end just like Snowmageddon did.

Now, the end isn’t happening this week. Snow continues through tonight and tomorrow morning. According to weather.com, we get a break until Friday and then hit with a bit more. Sunday brings some more but the good news about both of those days is temperatures are in the mid to upper 40’s which means we’ll get some rain as well. The rain will wash away a lot of that snow allowing us to get on the roads a bit safer.
