Car Windows Shot Out - Do YOU have video?

On Monday, January 17th Boise police officers took around a dozen reports of vandalism/malicious injury to property where vehicles had a window shot out by what appears to be a BB gun.   Evidence indicates this happened between 1:30 am and 2:30 am in the areas of:
North 28th Street
West Lassen Street
West. Pleasanton Avenue
West Bellomy Lane

If you live in any of those areas and have a camera that takes video on the front of your home that includes a street view, please take a close look at it. The Boise Police would like to hear from you if have any video footage that could be related to this crime such as vehicles driving slower than normal, stopping, or having a window down.

Here are some handy vehicle vandalism prevention tips from Crime Stoppers of Southwest Idaho:  

  • Parking in garages or off the street if possible.

  • Have any exterior lighting on at night to increase the visibility of your property. Timers or sensors are great for this.

  • Any cameras you have that cover your property and might see the City street can provide us with good evidence in these cases, especially if we are looking for a time frame when the crime occurred.

  • If observe this occurring or it just occurred, please call dispatch to report 208-377-6790

  • If you notice this has happened to you the next day, or not sure when it happened, you can call in through non-emergency dispatch or report online at https://www.cityofboise.org/departments/police/report-a-crime/. If you report online, please take pictures of the damage to the vehicle.

  • As always, be aware of out of place activity for your neighborhood and don’t hesitate to report.
