Songbird Trailer Paints a Stark Picture of the Future

The new Netflix movie Songbird does little to calm our nerves as it takes us into a future where Covid has not been eradicated and has in fact, flourished.

STX films has presented us with a scenario that hits very close to home because it is a scenario that we can all imagine. A world where Covid 19 was never beaten and has mutated multiple times to become Covid 23, which in turn is mutating again. 4 years of lockdown have passed and in this reality, infected citizens are ripped from their homes and forced into quarantine camps known as Q-Zones.

Well I don’t know about you but that certainly lifted MY spirits!

This isn’t the first world-wide plague or pandemic genre movie that’s been thrust into our culture. Let’s not forget Dustin Hoffman as Colonel Sam Daniels in the 1995 movie Outbreak or Matt Damon as Mitch Emhoff in 2011’s Contagion. In each of these movies, humanity is faced with a deadly virus and in each case, a cure is found.

Lets hold onto hope and remain optimistic that soon a cure or vaccine will be discovered or released. In the mean time, pop some popcorn and dial up Songbird on the ‘Flix once it’s released.
