RUN. HIDE. FIGHT.
Yesterday a gun man took the lives of 2 people and injured 4 others at Boise Towne Square Mall. A suspect is in custody and we will share more official information when it is released.
I am so thankful to all of our local law enforcement agencies for their quick response to the situation yesterday. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends that lost loved ones and I pray for healing for those that were injured and to all affected by this senseless act of violence. My mind is still working to comprehend that this actually happened here in the Treasure Valley. While discussing this last night with my kids we talked again about how it is so important to know the 3 words that could help them survive should they ever find themselves in a situation such as what happened at the mall yesterday.
Here at Iliad Media Group our management team has taken the progressive approach of making sure our staff annually receives active shooter training from the Nampa Police Department. One of the very important things we learned (and that I’ve shared with my family & friends) are 3 words that could improve your odds of surviving an active shooter event: RUN. HIDE. FIGHT.
In this FBI training video, customers at a bar are caught in an active shooter event. By employing the run, hide, and fight tactics, as well as knowing the basics of rendering first aid to others, they are prepared, empowered, and able to survive the attack.
