A New Miss Idaho Named & She’s Also Representing The U.S. Army
This young lady out of Eastern Idaho is getting a lot of attention because of her military connection. Our brand new Miss Idaho is not only representing the Gem State, she’s also representing the United States Army.
Ayriss Torres was born and raised here in Idaho. She enlisted in the U.S. Army when she was just 19 years old and also has been studying political science, pre-law, and finance at Idaho State University.
Here’s what Ayriss had to say about who she is and what she’s doing…
“"I am a Civil Affairs Specialist, I'm a 38 Bravo, that is my [military occupational specialty]. If I were to be deployed, my role would be to coordinate humanitarian efforts and work as a liaison between the United States and foreign nations, after war, or national disaster. I get to be the person who goes to those communities and talks to them about what they need and what the U.S. can do for them, and how we can coordinate getting relief to a specific area or community."
What a great example for all of our young girls and to all of us. Ayriss, we wish you the best. Know that you have an entire state behind you and we can’t wait to see you do well at Miss America.
Ayriss is also this week’s 7’s HERO with Maggie O’Mara on KTVB 7 so you can follow her story in depth by hitting that button below.
