Man Flees the FBI By…
Matthew Piercey is a California man accused of orchestrating a $35 MILLION Ponzi scheme.
Apparently, he was scamming investors into giving money to his companies, Family Wealth Legacy and Zolla- and promised guaranteed returns on their cash using an "Upvesting Fund.” This fund does have a track record for success… but instead of investing it, he was suspected of pocketing it and paying off his OWN debts.
According to prosecutors, Piercey allegedly admitted privately to an associate that there was no Upvesting Fund.
He was wanted by the FBI yesterday and decided to make a run for it.
He hopped in his truck and took off- and headed to Lake Shasta, which is in Northern CA near Redding. With FBI agents still trailing him, he decided to hop onto a “sea-scooter” that he had on his truck bed, and jump into the WATER!
This sea-scooter can actually drive underwater at about 4 miles per hour.
He spent about 25 minutes out of sight, and authorities could only see bubbles come up. He eventually submerged from the lake and that’s when the FBI made their arrest. He is now facing up to 20 years in prison.
This is the kinda stuff you only see or hear about in movies!
