Netflix Jumps into the Gaming World

Netflix is filled with endless movies, TV shows, original series, and now…. video games. Yep! If you’ve ever wanted to start gaming and watching your favorite shows all in one place, you’ll soon be able to!

The Pandemic has really made an effect on the gaming world. We’ve spent more time at home, and more people have picked up the hobby. The global market for video games was estimated to be worth nearly $178 billion and is expected to eclipse $200 billion in 2023, according to Cnet.

Netflix has confirmed their expansion into ad-free video gaming with no extra cost to subscribers. (at least, not yet.) They are still in the “early stages of further expanding into games,” but, it will first be “primarily focused on games for mobile devices.” The shareholders at Netflix also said, “We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation and unscripted TV.”

They have also talked about pursuing Xbox and Playstation console games in the future, as well as podcasting.
