Here are The 10 Best Indoor Activities in Boise
With temperatures reaching triple digits this weekend and into next week, finding fun things to do indoors might be hard. Here are 10 fun things to do inside in Boise
Nobody wants to say inside in the Summer time. Especially after the year we’ve had when everyone was telling us to stay home and stay away. But when the temperatures reach triple digits, it can be dangerous to be outside for too long. Luckily, Boise and the Treasure Valley as a whole is rife with fun things to do indoors. It would be impossible to list them all here so I’ve picked the 10 I think you will enjoy the most. You can see a longer list when you visit Tripadvisor.
The Idaho State Capitol Building
First and foremost, it’s free to walk in and tour the building. The architecture inside is breathtaking and it’s really cool to see where our law makers spend their days guiding Idaho’s future. The State Capitol building also offers the chance to get a little education in the Summer time with plenty of historical footnotes most everywhere you look both inside the building and on the surrounding grounds.
The Basque Museum and Cultural Center
Who are the Basque people? Where do they hail from and what brought them to Idaho? Those are just a couple things you can learn about the Basque people. To gain a more intimate knowledge, I’d suggest sampling their cuisine at the many Basque restaurants that are within walking distance to the Museum.
Spend a couple hours immersing yourself in the underwater world! The Aquarium of Boise offers parents and kids the chance to learn about, touch and feed some of the most exotic creatures that inhabit our oceans and rivers. The best part is this experience is not prohibitively expensive. $10.95; Children (7- 11): $7.95; Children (3-6): $5.95; Children (2 and under): Seniors (55+): $8.95; Military: $8.95; College Student (w/ ID): $8.95.
A little something for the parents, pets AND kids! Payette is a family friendly brewery that offers tours, a large, shaded outdoor seating area and food trucks most weekends. Free to get in, but of course you’ll have to pay for the libations and food from the food truck.
Here is something for the older kids and the adults who are still kids inside. Race your friends and family, use the private party room and pool tables. This could also be a fun date night because they’re open pretty late on the weekend.
What’s not to love? You get the best of both worlds with Wahooz and Roaring Springs. If you’re looking for a little wet and wild fun you can hit the slides at Roaring Springs. If you’re looking to stay out of the sun and in the air conditioning, Wahooz has you taken care of with more than enough family fun!
Idaho has a rich military history and it’s on full display at the Idaho Military Museum. You can easily spend a couple hours in here with the family and looking over the treasure trove of history available here.
This place is so cool. You need to get tickets in advance so check their website to plan your visit. This is THE place to get your kids excited about learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Plus, the Titanic exhibit is still open!
Not all libraries are dark, dank and stuffy places with mean people telling you to “shhh!” all the time. The Boise Public Library has a calendar that is absolutely filled to the brim with things you and your kids will surely love to do. Story time in the park, Family story time and free meals!
Stay Home!
Not only is this one free, you don’t have to drive or park anywhere. Work on a puzzle, play some games with the kids, bake something for desert, tackle one of those home improvement projects you didn’t get to during quarantine…the possibilities are endless!
I know it can be boring to just stay home so if you do head out to take in some summer fun over the next week to ten days please be careful. Stay hydrated and make sure the outdoor pets can either come inside, or are given ample shade from the sun and LOTS of fresh water to drink.
