A Good Day for Music

Song that eventually showed up on different music charts.

Olivia Newton John

Let Me Be There

A song that really didn’t know what it was when it started climbing the charts early 1973. I began as a light country song that soon crossed-over to the pop charts and then making an appearance on the Adult Contemporary list.

The song was written by Olivia’s main songwriter, British musician John Rostill. John was part of Cliff Richard’s backing band called The Shadows as their bassist. The song was so popular that it garnered Olivia a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocalist. That award set off a fire storm within the Country music industry as Olivia, a British-born Australian, was going up against Country music legendary artists.
