Geno the K-9 Retires After Seven Years at BPD
More than 70 different people breaking the law are off the streets of Boise, Idaho because of Geno and now this superhero K-9 is officially stepping down as one of the Boise Police Department’s most loyal and finest officers.
Geno is a Belgian Malinois that was born in the Netherlands on March 23, 2013. Soon after he joined the Boise Police Department in July of 2014 and he’s spent all seven years of his career as an officer with a long list of busy tasks.
Here are just a few of the accomplishments Geno notched over his past seven years according to our media partners at Channel 7 KTVB.
seized over $30,000 in cash
seized more than 2,100 items of drugs
seized 11 different guns
seized many pounds of meth, heroin, & cocaine
Here’s a quote from the Boise Police Department…
“Today we are celebrating K9 Geno as he retires after a wonderful career. Geno has spent the last seven years protecting his brothers and sisters in law enforcement and entertaining thousands of people with demonstrations at schools, colleges, the Idaho Humane Society, Boy Scouts, church groups, retirement, and long-term care facilities, and many other public and private organizations.”
We often times think of the great men and women that put their butts on the line for all of us each day but these K-9’s deserve every bit as much of respect as we can throw at them. They go through vigorous work, training, and care. And the bottom line is… they PROTECT AND SERVE!
Geno will now enjoy retirement with his handler and family. They say Geno WILL be spoiled for the rest of his days.
I say GOOD! Geno, you deserve it. Thank you for your service!
