COVID-19 has all of us questioning what WILL and what WILL NOT happen in the near future.  While college football has officially gotten underway we know that some Bowl Games will not take place BUT… the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl has just been locked in for December 22nd at Albertsons Stadium.

Two lucky teams that will battle their way into contention will battle it out on the blue at 1:30 p.m. (MST) on December 22nd and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Kevin McDonald, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Executive Director had this to say about the announcement…

We are excited to be able to host our game and put on an unforgettable event for two teams who will have been through a lot to reach Bowl Season.  Like everything else this year, our game will likely look different than it has in the past. But we can all be proud that one of Boise’s signature events continues and more champions will be crowned on The Blue.

This announcement has surfaced a lot of questions like…

  • Can fans attend and if so, how many?

  • Will there be tailgating?

  • What kind of rules and/or safety precautions will be taken?

The truth is, we don’t know the answers to those questions right now.  All we know is that those decisions will be made in accordance with state, county, and local guidelines.  For now, let’s enjoy what we have.  We have BSU at an undefeated 2-0 playing every week and we have a BOWL GAME heading into town in about seven weeks.  I’ll take that.
