Boise Police Department Hires New Employees To Take On Mental Awareness
Mental Awareness has become a big topic of discussion over the past couple of years. It’s important to talk about but even more important to DO something about it and that’s exactly where the Boise Police Department is. They’re DOING something big!
It’s best to get things straight from the horse’s mouth. Here’s what was just posted on the Boise Police Department’s Facebook Page…
“Our specialty services are growing. BPD recently added another civilian social worker and officer to our Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT).
Six years ago we started the unit with a civilian mental health coordinator. A few years later she partnered with an officer to respond to even more calls in the field, now we growing again in an effort to better assist those facing mental health crisis and helping connect them with services. We know this team can’t be everywhere at once and that is why we also made it a point to provide ALL of our officers with the full 40 hour crisis intervention team training.
Craig is the newest civilian member of the BHRT team and not new to this line of work. He most recently worked as a clinician with the Mobile Crisis Unit. He is also currently an adjunct professor at BSU in the Psychology Department. We are proud to have him on board. The Boise Police Department does more than protect our beautiful city and all of us that live here. They’re truly invested in our well being and in the well being of the future of not just Boise, but the entire Treasure Valley and even more.
Idaho is our home and our home is made up of all of us as individuals, all of our families, all of our cities, and all of our communities. My hat’s off to these incredible men and women for making our home so great.
