Boise Police Department Catch Porch Pirates
The Boise Police Department has its hands full with crime, accidents, emergencies, search and rescue, charities, and every year in December… PORCH PIRATES! Guess what? These guys are going down!
Over the past week, the Boise Police Department has come across a lot of stolen and damaged packages. Packages that were meant for YOU. Your presents, your gifts, your hard-earned money showing up at the doorstep and then GONE.
Arrests have been made and the BPD continues to make this a Top Priority making sure that we all are protected as much as possible. They’ve released some tips to make sure you do everything you can to keep from getting your packages stolen or damaged.
• Track your packages and shipments. This way you know when your package will be delivered.
• Leave specific instructions for delivery when you order the product; you can also do this through the shipper's online tracking services. Do not leave a note on your door with instructions.
• If you cannot be home for a delivery, ask a neighbor to watch for the package and secure it for you.
• Consider having all of your shipments require a signature for delivery.
• Have your package delivered to your work or a relative or friend who will be at home.
• Consider picking up the package at the Post Office or shipping center.
• Be aware of suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Look for strange vehicles and individuals.
A big thank you to all of our Treasure Valley officers who continue to serve and protect in so many different ways. We appreciate you so much more than you’ll ever know. Merry Christmas!
