Boise's Housing Crisis Highlighted on NBC's Today Show
Boise’s current housing crisis isn’t going away anytime soon and the Today Show on NBC highlighted the City of Trees with Today Show host, Harry Smith spoke about it.
There’s a chance you saw Today Show host Harry Smith wandering around Boise last week. Don’t worry, he wasn’t here looking for a house (or three) to buy. He was here to get a deeper understanding of the current housing crisis we’re experiencing in not only the Treasure Valley but in the entire state. This morning’s episode was just the first in a week-long series the Today Show is doing on America’s current housing crisis.
Recent figures have shown the median home price in the Boise area to be at or near $500,000. Not only that, but rent increases have been exponential.
Many will point to the large influx of people from surrounding states as the reason for the recent boom and they’re not wrong. In fact, a couple that Harry interviewed while here and highlighted in the interview are from Seattle. They say the reason for the relocation to the Gem State was because they wanted the same lifestyle they had in Seattle, “but on a smaller scale”.
While it doesn’t appear that the housing crisis will end soon enough for those looking for their first home, at least the proper way to pronounce Boise will be given a national stage.
