Albertson’s Delivering Groceries…with Robots?

Listen, I’m all about technology and LOVE what my iPhone, iPad, smart TV and more can do for me, but having a robot bring me my groceries? Now I’m getting nervous.

Albertsons Company recently announced that they will be launching a pilot program focused on experimenting using remote controlled robots to delivery groceries. Wait, what?!?

Imagine ordering a gallon of milk, some sliced deli meat, and a loaf of bread and next thing you know C-3PO is knocking on your door with a bag. Obviously this feels very nerve wracking at first but think about all the other automated things we are used to in our life. Drones, anyone?

Apparently they have already tested out the delivery robots at two Northern California Safeway stores and plan to roll is out in the West Coast, according to the Tortoise, the tech company responsible for these robots.

What do you think? Are you excited for robots delivering your groceries? Or does this freak you out? Also, do you tip a robot? That’s a whole new conversation.
