A Good Day for Music

It’s often said that the only way we know that we’re going through good times is from the bad experiences in life. Really good songwriters use both to make some very memorable songs.

Grand Funk

Bad Time

Songwriters often use life events to inspire most of their songs, in spite of what was going on around them at the time. If times are tough, then why not get paid for it, right? Such was the case when singer-songwriter Mark Farner was having difficulties with his first wife, Cheryl.

The song that he wrote during the break-up would be the group’s fourth and final single to reach into the American Top 10, as well as their final Top 40 hit record. It also marked the end of his two year run with one of the more popular band of early to mid-70’s.

While Mark was with Grand Funk, they recorded all their major hits that everyone is familiar with.

The song also is recognized as the last song recorded by Grand Funk. After its release in the Spring of 1975, they started recorded under the name Grand Funk Railroad.

The band briefly got back together in the early 80’s, but couldn’t find the popularity they once knew.
