A Good Day for Music

One of the first number one records on the music charts that started 1968.

John Fred and his Playboy Band

Judy In Disguise

One of those ‘What If’ stories in Rock and Roll History. In 1968, The Beatles dominated the music charts. But, unknown to everyone, John, Paul, George and Ringo were coming to the tail end of their reign on the charts.

In later interviews with Fred, this song was a parody of ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ which had been released a year earlier. It was said that Lennon loved this track which garnered John Fred and his band a place on the charts as well as a recording contract, but couldn’t strike again with any more hits after this song went to number one.

The record label didn’t really develop the group as they were putting all of their efforts in a couple of new artists that they had just signed. An American singer-songwriter named Neil Diamond and a piano player named Elton John.
