9-Year-Old Climbs All Of Idaho’s 12,000-Foot Mountain Peaks

We have a very special 4th grader here in Idaho who just accomplished something very few adults have. He climbed every one of Idaho’s 12,000-Foot mountains.

Camden Patrie is just 9-years-old and he lives in Ketchum, Idaho. Camden has a couple of little friends that inspired him to climb. They’re four and six and they’ve accomplished a lot with their hiking and climbing so when Camden told his parents what he wanted to do, they were all in.

A 12er is a peak that reaches 12,000 feet or higher. Idaho has nine of them. The goal! Climb all nine 12ers.

Camden and his parents researched and prepared for a solid year before finally attempting their first 12er back in June. Camden’s parents climbed every step with their son and said there were times they wondered if things weren’t getting a bit too dangerous.

After finishing all of Idaho’s 12er’s you’d think this little guy would want a break. Nope!

Camden now wants to climb the high points in every state across America. He would also like to climb Mt. Everest one day.

There’s no doubt in my mind… we’ll see Camden breaking records and achieving BIG things!
