Built To Spill

When it comes to Idaho music, no one does the state prouder than Built To Spill. Formed in 1992, Doug Martsch and friends have been kicking around the indie music scene for a while and have the influencer chops to prove it. Rumored to be an inspiration for bands such as Modest Mouse, Deathcab For Cutie, and The Strokes, these guys deserve all the Boise hero worship they will undoubtedly be receiving. With a Treefort set that will most definitely be charged with the kind of electricity that can only come from a hometown band playing to a hometown crowd, this show is not one to be missed.

The Regrettes

This L.A.-based pop-punk quartet is already getting air time on local alternative radio. The band’s four members look as if they just stepped off the pages of a Delia’s catalog, in the best way possible. With a high-energy sound that is more than vaguely reminiscent of their riot girl predecessors, The Regrettes put on the kind of show that can only come from a group of best friends traveling the world, playing music together. Their Treefort set is bound to make you dance with a smile on your face while giving you the courage to say “screw you” to whatever is keeping you down at the moment.

Shutups

Shutups are the kind of, unsuspecting, quiet kid in the corner, band Treefort was made for. Formed in Oakland, California, by two college friends reunited by a medical emergency, Shutups’ sound is driven by bombastic drums and fuzzed-out guitar riffs. Reminiscent of early 2000s alternative heroes like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Weezer, these indie bop-writing machines are patiently waiting for you to release; they are your new favorite band.

Durand Jones & The Indications

Durand Jones & The Indications are going to make you fall in love, with them, with the person you are standing next to, with yourself, with everyone on this planet. This ridiculously smooth, soul and dance-inspired fivesome hail from Bloomington, Indiana. With a sound straight out of the soul revivalist movement that fostered artists like Leon Bridges and St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Durand Jones & The Indications are guaranteed to put on the kind of show that will make you sweat out all the bad feelings you have ever had in your life.

MYLO BYBEE

These three locally sourced brothers are set to play their first Treefort gig this year. Formed during the lockdown of 2020, MYLO BYBEE’s heavy guitar and harmonizing vocals dip into a sound that has not been heard in the indie-rock milieu for some time now. With their infectious “punch you in the face” energy, the brothers BYBEE are bound to put on a show to remember for their hometown.

Wilderado

Yet another Treefort act that has been seeing the love on local airwaves. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wilderado’s southern rock-inspired brand of indie-folk is reminiscent of Kings of Leon and Sturgill Simpson. Although their roots are firmly planted in the south, the band’s Los Angeles relocation can be heard in their bright guitar strums. This sweet-faced foursome will most certainly bring a much-needed chilled-out, sway-inducing vibe to the Treefort festivities.

Flipturn

Originally hailing from Fernandina Beach, Florida, Flipturn combines the pop sensibilities of ‘90s alternative with jangly rhythm guitar for an undeniably infectious sound. Known for their poignant lyrics and awe-inspiring live show, Flipturn has risen through the musical ranks from Philadelphia basement shows to opening for Japanese Breakfast and Saint Motel. This foursome is the kind of scrappy band that always makes a good showing at Treefort.

Glove

Glove is the kind of band that puts a superior smirk on your face, knowing something the rest of the world has yet to figure out. This new wave foursome hails from Tampa, Florida. Glove conjures ‘80s darlings like Human League and Berlin with heavy keyboards and soft vocals. Although some might not be down with the nostalgia vibe, Glove does it in a way that brings fresh new eyes to a long-beloved genre. Their Treefort set is bound to be a danceable good time.

Sedona

This Brooklyn-based quintet are the kind of effortlessly cool women you want to share clothes and be best friends with. Sedona combines lusciously soft vocals with grimy guitar riffs, sitting comfortably on the line between dirty pop and dream-wave. Their sound conjures New York predecessors like Blondie and Sonic Youth while still maintaining an element of fresh allure.  Sedona’s Treefort set will give you the confidence to text that person you have been crushing on for the past six months.
