The epicenter of ‘The Summer of Love’ was during the summer on 1967 at the corner of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco. The Vietnam war was continually being played out on the nightly news and it was at this time, the usual ‘pop music’ sound from popular bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys were experimenting with this new sound.

Well established groups like The Supremes were changing as well. Their song ‘Reflections’ was the first song from Motown Records to venture into the psychedelic sound.

One of the last songs from the song-writing team of Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland was written for the famous girl group that would officially change their name to ‘Diana Ross and The Supremes’ and would be one of the last songs that Florence Ballard would sing on. After this song was released, she was replaced by Cindy Birdsong.

‘Reflections’ would become an international hit.
