Take Some Time at the Western Idaho Fair

It had been quite a few years since I had spent any time at the Western Idaho Fair, so I decided to take my grandson Emery on the first night. There would be no rules, he could ride what ever he wanted, eat what ever he wanted, see everything and it was up to him when we would go home. It was one of the best nights ever.

We got into the fair about 6 and headed to the rides. I bought the unlimited ride passes ahead of time and got the “Fast Pass” that puts you to the front of the line. We started with the tallest traveling Ferris Wheel so we could get a lay of the land. From there we worked our was around to every ride. For the most part I rode with him, there were only a couple of rides he did on his own.

About 9 he decided he was hungry…for popcorn. We went to the Kettle corn booth and got the small basic bag. According to him, it was the best popcorn ever.

Earlier in the night we had bought a water bottle from Culligan for 5 bucks and got to refill it all we wanted, we did at least 3 refills.

After the popcorn feed, Emery wanted to do more rides. We headed back to the flying swings, then did a couple more fast circles rides, when he totally caught me off guard and wanted to go on the ride that hoists you up about 300 feet and drops you.

While we were waiting for our ride we watched as a couple teens got off and were sick right away. That made him want to go even more. As we got our turn, he marched to his seat, buckled the belt and looked at the teen next to him and told her “watch me, I got this” and oh did he. He rode it without flinching, he did yell “yahoo” though. We ended up riding it two more times before we moved on.

We rode a few more rides, then he finished off the night with a few times down the big slide. As we went home, he kept telling me how it was the best night ever.

The time and money spent is priceless.

The tower in the bottom left of the picture is the ride that drops you and it is a blast.
