Roaring Springs will be participating in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday, June 17th from 9- 9:30 a.m.

It’s a joint effort between people here in the Treasure Valley and 40,000 other people from around the world.

The program is in its 12th year and Roaring Springs says more than 100 kids are set to participate in the lesson, which will focus on basic water safety skills.

Aside from maintaining the Guinness Book of World Records, the swimming lesson is held to spread the very important message that swimming is a life skill. To put the necessity of swimming lessons into perspective, drowning is the leading cause of unintended, injury related death for children between the ages of 1 and 4. Studies also show that if a child doesn’t learn to swim by the time they are in the third grade, they most likely will never learn to swim.
