All You Need Is Love
A song that came out the realization that a simple act of kindness is what everyone needs and can go a long way in bringing people together.
The song was written and recorded for the very first satellite TV special that was to be called ‘Our World’ and was broadcasted in 24 countries. Aired June 25th, 1967, was 6 hours long with entries from all over the globe and was seen by over 400 million people.
The song was developed months before and the rules for each country’s entry was simple: It had to utilize understandable concepts by people of all nations. In am interview, John Lennon said that the inspiration for the lyrics came from the simplistic slogans that came from television advertisements.
‘All You Need I Love’ was released as a non-album single July, 1967, soon after the Six-Day War in the middle-east becoming another world-wide number one record and was later included on the ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ LP in the United States.
