ISP Officer Saves Owl Trapped On I-84
A Great Horned Owl was trapped in plastic on I-84 yesterday afternoon around 2:30 and probably wouldn’t have made it much longer if a very special Sgt from the Idaho State Police didn’t show up.
According to KTVB, the owl’s talons were stuck inside some kind of plastic off the side, near the median on I-84. As people drove by they could see that some kind of bird was struggling and knew it wouldn’t last long if help didn’t come soon.
The Idaho State Police received multiple calls and they immediately sent Sgt Brandolyn Crapo who was met by a volunteer from Animals In Distress. Crapo quickly parked her vehicle in a way to protect the owl and soon after, gently freed it from the plastic.
This is another example that our officers aren’t just out to give tickets all day long. Hey, I freak out every time one of them pulls up behind me but the truth is they ARE here to protect and serve. Sometimes in very BIG ways. And sometimes it’s something small like this. Simply put… these men and women make our beautiful Treasure Valley safe and a better place to live.
Thank you to everyone involved in helping this beautiful creature get back to freedom. When I see things like this it makes me feel good and puts a smile on my face. Thank you Sgt Crapo!
