LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS!

I love this time of year because of all the decorations, festivities, and of course the holiday spirit. Obviously, this year is a little different. I haven’t gotten around to putting up a tree just yet, but hopefully this weekend it’ll be up!

I’ve never hung up an actual tree since I lived on my own. My version of decorating during December usually looks like this:

My “Bachelor Tree” from 2011.

Now that I’m older, I know I should step my game up.

Since I’ve only wrapped a tree with lights maybe twice in my life, I’m not really sure that CORRECT way how to do it- according to this video from Tik Tok:

Instead of wrapping them the whole way around the tree, you should just do the front and hang them VERTICALLY. Start at the bottom, then to the top, then back down. Repeat that until the front is filled up. You can even zig zag them! One source says it is how they wrap the tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC as well. The other benefit doing it this style is they are aa lot easier to take off and replace if one of lights stops working, and they're easier to take down after the holidays.
