IDAHO BOY WINS FOOD NETWORK’S BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
After months of shows, baking, hard work, and talent, 12-year-old Keaton Ashton of Sugar City, Idaho is the new king of the Food Network Kid’s Baking Championship program.
The show aired on Monday nights but this past Monday was something special. Keaton and his family all got together at the Rexburg Movie Theater to watch as he was crowned champion along with a $25,000 cash prize and an official spot in the Food Network Magazine.
Keaton’s known for a long time about winning this competition but you know how reality shows are. Mums the word until after the show airs. Keaton spent 10 weeks filming the show in Los Angeles last Summer so this little Jr. High kid has had to keep this secret for months.
Keaton’s mom, Michelle looked after him while in L.A. and his dad and three older sisters were all giving him love and support from back here in Idaho while he was on this crazy ride. Here’s what Keaton’s mom had to say about watching her little boy on the set while filming…
One of the crazy things is that this kid has only been baking for a year. He signed up for a cooking class at Madison Jr. High, made a video, sent it in to the Food Network, and got on the show.
Keaton has now opened up a new bakery called Keaton’s Cakes and you can check out all of his cool creations on his Instagram page below.
The $25,000 will go to Keaton when he turns 18-years-old and he has plans of going to culinary school.
