Deftones Release "Knife Party" Remix from Black Stallion Album
Months after announcing they were working on a White Pony remix album entitled Black Stallion, the Deftones have delivered in a big way.
The year 2000 was a big year for rock. It saw album releases from rock royalty including Radiohead, A Perfect Circle, Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, Disturbed and countless others. Among those behemoths was the Deftones’ White Pony, an album that would showcase the breadth of the Deftones’ musical prowess and experimental tendencies.
Notable tracks include the radio singles “Change (In The House of Flies)” and “Digital Bath” but honorable mention is due for “Passenger” featuring Tool’s Maynard James Keenan and the vibey “Teenager” that would foreshadow the band’s openness to using DJ’s and samples.
Fast forward to 2020, a year rife with controversy, canceled concerts and political arguments about masks. But early on in 2020 the Deftones gave us a sliver of hope when it was announced that they were working on a 20th anniversary edition of White Pony that would have a remix companion entitled Black Stallion, because…of course. We now know the release date, have our first sample from Black Stallion and the official artwork.
The release date is December 11th (my birthday in case you were wondering) and you can pre-order yours right HERE!
The first taste of Black Stallion is a remix of “Knife Party”.
And here’s the album artwork…
