Boise State's Favorite Dog Passes Away
Boise’s favorite and probably most popular dog passed away at the age of 11 yesterday, on National Dog Day.
If you’ve been to a Boise State football game or a Boise Hawks baseball game, you’ve no doubt caught a glimpse of Cowboy Kohl. He would streak across the blue turf like black lightning at Albertson’s Stadium after kick-off to retrieve the tee. You’d see him at Memorial Stadium speeding down the first base line to retrieve a bat after one of our Hawk’s got a base hit or went yard.
Yesterday, on National Dog Day we learned that Cowboy Kohl, also known as Revitt Up Kohl Expect Great Things passed away at the age of 11.
In his time as Official Tee Dog for Boise State, Kohl had earned more than his fair share of popularity. ESPN, NBC Sports and even Barstool Sports saw fit to give the little fella some pub. He cozied up with college and pro athletes alike and even won the heart of a swimsuit model. All of this is to say nothing of his indelible impact on the community he called home.
Anyone who has ever had a dog as a member of the family knows that the day will come when we have to say goodbye. The saying goes that dogs are there for only part of our lives, but we are there for their entire lives. It’s always a difficult moment to experience, but we take solace in the memories we’ve made and shared with our little fur buddies.
We’re lucky to have made a lifetime of memories with Kohl. See ya on the other side of the rainbow bridge, buddy.
Britta Closson and her team at Positive Pets Dog Training Boise were Kohl’s trainers and would like for BSU Fans to know that Kohl’s son Blue Field Blitz will be stepping in to fills his “PAWS” as the Boise Hawks Bat Dog and BSU Tee Dog. We look forward to seeing him on the field.
You can read the official announcement about Kohl in this Facebook Post.
