Darin Wall is the bassist for the Seattle based heavy metal band, Greyhawk. Darin was playing with his bandmates at The Shredder music venue in downtown Boise in the early hours of Sunday morning when he got a very uncomfortable feeling about a man named Ethan Byrd.

Darin told KTVB that he saw Ethan point at the crowd and pretend to shoot people with finger guns. He said Ethan seemed really cold, not just drunk and belligerent.

At one point Darin’s intuition proved to be right because Ethan walked out to his car and brought a gun back into the venue.

Darin says he watched the man reach behind his back and grab his gun and that’s when he decided to attack. The two men started to wrestle and the gun totting man actually shot Darin through his pants and into his upper thigh.

Police arrived on scene and Ethan Byrd was quickly arrested. Darin was treated at St. Alphonsus and is now resting and recovering at home in Seattle.

We are so grateful for this man’s quick response and intuition. Who knows what could have happened if Darin had not been aware and didn’t react the way that he did.

Darin says this incident is not a reflection of the music scene in Boise, The Shredder, or Boise city as a whole and he says he’s excited to come back and play here again someday.
