No Fishing License, No Problem. Fish for free on Saturday

I still remember when I got my Idaho fishing license when I was a kid. I grew up in the small north Idaho town of Troy, and fishing, hunting, and EVERYTHING outdoors was a big deal. So naturally, getting your fishing license was part of the routine as an Idaho native.

This Saturday (June 12th), you can fish for free thanks to Free Fishing Day. This is a day where for 24 hours, no one needs a fishing license to cast a line into Idaho waters. Pretty cool, right?

If you’ve never fished, Saturday is the perfect day to try it out, because no license required. The Treasure Valley has numerous great fishing spots. In fact, many praise the Treasure Valley as fly fishing heaven! Although, if you’ve never fished before, fly fishing has a bit of a steep learning curve.

Idaho Fish & Game normally hosts this special day with some fun instruction for new fishers, but will not be involved in this years festivities but the day is still a day full of free fishing!
